SCOPE AND PURPOSE:
The Hotel Engineer 1 is responsible for maintaining the property's physical assets, ensuring all mechanical, electrical, plumbing, IT, and HVAC systems operate efficiently and safely. This role supports the luxury standards of El Encanto by delivering exceptional maintenance services, minimizing downtime, and ensuring guest comfort and safety.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on all hotel equipment and systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical.
Respond promptly to guest and staff maintenance requests, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
Conduct routine inspections of building systems and guest rooms to identify and resolve issues proactively.
Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and inventory of tools and spare parts.
Ensure compliance with local building codes, safety regulations, and hotel standards.
Assist in energy conservation initiatives and sustainability programs.
Support emergency response procedures, including fire safety systems and power outages.
Collaborate with other departments to ensure smooth operations and guest satisfaction.
Communicate and provide IT recommendations to the Director of Engineering.
Work with the Director of Engineering to plan projects and priorities and respond to any potential IT issues.
Communicate relevant engineering and IT information to the department, and across departments, as appropriate.
Comply with safe working practices, Health and Safety policy and ensure accidents/defects are reported immediately.
Remain professional and courteous with demanding or difficult guests or situations, in order, to turn them to the positive.
Work cohesively with other departments and co-workers as part of a team.
Use utilities and resources in a responsible manner to control wastage.

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in confined spaces.
Comfortable working at heights and in varying temperatures.
QUALIFICATION & SKILLS:
Education: Technical diploma or degree in Engineering, Electrical, Mechanical, or related field.
Experience: Minimum 2-3 years in hotel engineering or building maintenance, preferably in a luxury environment.
Strong knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, IT,
and mechanical systems.
Ability to read technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.
Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety standards.
Ability to work flexible shifts, including weekends and holidays.
Strong knowledge of Windows OS, MacOS, mobile device management, and standard hotel hardware (workstations, printers, routers, access points, card readers, servers).
Experience with network monitoring, troubleshooting Wi-Fi performance, and managing guest and admin VLANs.
Ability to configure and support key systems: PMS, POS, CRM, keycard systems, IPTV, and HSIA
Proficiency with ticketing systems, ITIL workflows, cybersecurity best practices, and data privacy standards
Ability to read and interpret system dashboards, logs, alerts, and incident reports.
Ability to partner with Front Office, Reservations, Sales & Catering, F&B, and Finance to ensure systems support operational needs.
Experience providing on-site and remote user support across multiple departments.
Strong understanding of hotel operations and service-standards mindset when addressing guest-impacting issues.
Ability to train staff on system updates, new technology, and basic troubleshooting.
Compenstion $28/hour to $32/hour
