Habilitation Counselor
Join our Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health team as a Habilitation Counselor. In this role you will support adults with developmental disabilities, helping them build life skills and maintain independence in a fast-paced, supportive environment.
Job Summary
The Habilitation Counselor works with other dedicated professionals to ensure the safety and well‑being of our residents. You will design and implement individualized goals, track progress, and report behavior data. You will also supervise and assist individuals in daily activities, ensuring a safe environment. Depending on the site, you may provide day habilitation, medical support, program activity, or overnight support.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement individualized goals and treatment plans.
- Complete progress assessments to track improvements and identify additional needs.
- Attend and participate in clinical meetings and reporting of behavior data.
- Collaborate with individuals to discuss goals and options.
- Facilitate monthly communication with families/guardians.
- Supervise and/or assist individuals in implementing program plans.
- Provide for the health and physical needs of residents and ensure a safe environment.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Rehabilitation Counseling or a related field.
- Previous experience working with individuals with psychological, emotional, or behavioral disorders, coercive PTSD, co‑occurring mental health and substance abuse disorders, and/or autism spectrum disorders is preferred.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, communicate proficiently, and use computer applications such as Outlook, SharePoint, EHR, and Microsoft Office.
- Valid driver's license.
Physical Requirements
- Administer CPR and first aid.
- Perform physical interventions as trained.
- Walk, stand, stoop, bend, and push/pull for up to 50 lbs. (½–¾ of the workday).
- May require lifting up to 50 lbs. regularly.
- Common repetitive wrist/hand movements.
- Operating in a light or ventilated environment; occasional work in wet conditions.
Salary
$18.75 per hour.
