Human Resources Manager – Healthcare

Balance Financial Management – Santa Barbara, California

Base Pay: $90,000 – $110,000 per year (actual pay based on experience and qualifications)

Responsibilities

  • Partner with local senior leadership to drive change, deliver top‑notch HR support, and exceed employee expectations.
  • Lead and support the HR team—ensuring policies, procedures, and best practices are consistently followed.
  • Manage employee relations, including investigations, terminations, and exit interviews.
  • Ensure timely and effective response to employee inquiries, handling complex and escalated issues and providing counseling on benefits, leaves of absence, employee assistance, and other HR policies.
  • Implement hiring strategies, review resumes, and participate in interviews when needed.
  • Develop and implement risk‑management strategies, including training on HR laws, compliance, complaint procedures, EEOC, sexual harassment, and termination procedures.
  • Support managers with performance‑improvement strategies, lead new‑hire onboarding, and oversee HR team development through training, performance evaluations, and coaching.
  • Support safety and health program implementation, ensure OSHA compliance (as applicable), and manage timely completion of internal and external audits.
  • Handle medical leaves, workers' compensation filings and audits, and other HR issues as they arise.

Skills & Qualifications

  • 5+ years experience as a California HR Generalist or Manager.
  • HR training and certifications (PHR, SHRM, etc.) required.
  • Understanding of general HR policies and procedures.
  • Strong knowledge of employment/labor laws.
  • Excellent communication and people skills.
  • Aptitude in problem‑solving.
  • Desire to work as a team.
  • BS/BA in Business Administration or a related field.
  • Background in healthcare or medical‑related HR preferred.
  • Proficiency with MS Office and HRIS systems (e.g., Paycom, ADP, Paychex, Paylocity).
