Plans, directs and assigns the work of subordinate professional and clerical staff; trains staff; evaluates job performance; makes recommendations regarding hiring, promotion and disciplinary actions as necessary and appropriate. Ensures that inspections and investigations are completed in accordance with the appropriate laws and divisional policy; interprets and implements policies, regulations, procedures and programs for the work unit; establishes and maintains uniform methods of inspection and investigation, enforcement procedures, collection and processing of samples for laboratory examination. Assists in the formulation of operational policies, programs and procedures; identifies operational problems or inefficiencies and recommends corrective action. Represents the Environmental Health Division before community groups, political and appointed bodies; hears complaints and makes decisions regarding their disposition.
