SCOPE AND PURPOSE:

The bulk of hotel security's day is filled with patrolling hotel grounds, parking lots, lobby, restaurant, and hallways. We provide a sense of security to both hotel staff and guests simply by being present. Hotel security are assigned to monitor the hotel via security cameras.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Access control (lock and unlock) the entry doors and gates on grounds.

Escort People In/Out of the Hotel - Hotel security is also responsible for escorting guests and hotel staff to and from the hotel. If valet parking is unavailable late at night, hotel security may escort guests and staff in order to protect them. Additionally, hotel security may need to escort belligerent guests off hotel property.

Maintain Order - Hotel security is often expected to maintain order among the different groups of guests.

Report to Supervisors and Management -Hotel security is responsible for reporting all suspicious activity to their supervisors or hotel management. Usually, hotel security should report current events in real time through their radio and document events that have already been resolved.

Investigate Disturbances - Hotel security must be on call anytime during their shift to investigate disturbances reported by hotel staff and guests. This can include things like excess noise coming from a guest's room or reports of suspicious people prowling the parking lot.

Use utilities and resources in a responsible manner to control wastage.

Communicate relevant information to the department, your line manager and across departments, as appropriate.

Comply with safe working practices, Health and Safety policy and ensure accidents/defects are reported immediately.

Attend learning and development courses and complete eLearning modules, as required.

Observe & Report: Document all daily activities and tasks, and events that took place during your shift

Loss Prevention: Monitor CCTV activity throughout the hotel for suspicious people, focusing on point-of-sale areas and areas designated for cash storage. Will also conduct random bag checks for departing team members.

Shuttle Duties: Will assist as needed to cover the shuttle driver duties (i.e. driving team members to/from the mission/hotel).

Lost & Found: Collect, document, and store all items found on property. Assist in the return of found items to the rightful owner. Document all lost item inquiries and follow up accordingly.

Safe Assist: Assist registered guests with opening locked or malfunctioning safe units. Assist housekeeping supervisors with opening locked safes of checked-out rooms and document in found items (see Lost & Found).

Emergency Response: Act as the hotel's first responder to all emergency calls and be responsible for the protection and preservation of life, property, evidence and environment to the best of your ability until the proper authorities arrive. Only act at the level you have been trained and not do anything that will cause you injury or risk your life.
