Description:

Minimum qualifications:

  1. Ph.D. in Physics, Electrical Engineering, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  2. Experience with experimental operation of state quantum systems.
  3. Experience with superconducting qubits and many-body quantum simulation.
  4. Proficiency in programming with Python.
  5. At least one scientific publication submitted to conferences, journals, or public repositories.

Preferred qualifications:

  1. Ph.D. in Quantum Information Science.
  2. Experience with superconducting qubit design.

As a Research Scientist, you will set up large-scale tests, deploy ideas broadly, manage deadlines, and apply the latest theories to develop new products, processes, or technologies. Your work will include creating experiments, prototyping implementations, and designing architectures for real-world problems across computer science disciplines such as machine learning, data mining, natural language processing, hardware/software performance analysis, and search technologies.

You will actively contribute to the research community by sharing and publishing your findings, inspired by internal projects and collaborations with universities and institutes worldwide.

Google Quantum AI aims to build large-scale, error-corrected quantum computers capable of complex computations, unlocking solutions to intractable problems. Our focus is on advancing quantum computing capabilities and enabling practical applications.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $141,000-$202,000 plus bonus, equity, and benefits. Salary depends on role, level, location, skills, experience, and education. Additional responsibilities include:

  1. Designing documentation for an analog-digital simulation platform for internal and external users.
  2. Developing calibration protocols to enhance fidelities in analog simulation modes.
  3. Investigating and benchmarking analog simulators using alternative superconducting qubits, such as fluxoniums.
  4. Conducting analog-digital quantum simulation experiments aimed at surpassing classical simulation capabilities.
