Job Details

To perform a wide variety of journey level technical library work including acquiring, cataloging and circulating material for a specific function of the library; to perform technical and clerical work support of various sections of the library; and to provide general information and specialized assistance to library patrons. CLASS CHARACTERISTICS This is the full journey level class within the Library Technician series. Employees within this class are distinguished from the Library Assistant series by the performance of the full range of duties assigned including assisting in the acquisition and cataloging of library materials. Employees at this level receive only occasional instruction or assistance as new or unusual situations arise and are fully aware of the operating procedures and policies of the work unit. This class is distinguished from the Supervising Library Technician in that the latter plans, directs and leads a unit or department within the library.
